purpose

This policy outlines The Water Affect’s commitment to child-safe practices and the protection of children and young people attending aquatic sessions.

Policy Statement

The Water Affect is committed to maintaining strong child-safe practices and operates in accordance with a Child Safe Code of Conduct to support the safety, wellbeing, and protection of children and young people accessing services.

All staff are required to hold current Working With Children Checks and to maintain appropriate professional boundaries, conduct, and safeguarding practices when working with participants and families.

For all participants under 18 years of age, a parent or authorised guardian is required to remain at the facility for the full duration of the session.

Child Safety Principles

The Water Affect is committed to ensuring that:
Children and young people have the right to feel safe, respected, and supported at all times
Child-safe practices are embedded across all services and sessions
Staff maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times
Any concerns relating to child safety are taken seriously and addressed promptly
Parents, carers, and authorised guardians retain responsibility for supervision outside of scheduled session times
The Water Affect staff do not provide supervision outside allocated session times
